Why are all my NSUUID strings equal to "NSNUUID" for a set of values I generate using the iOS 5.0.1 SDK?
I'm generating a random set of values using the following code:
CFUUIDRef uuid = CFUUIDCreate(NULL);
CFUUIDCreateString(NULL, uuid);
NSString *newString = (NSString *)CFBridgingRelease(CFUUIDCreateString(NULL, uuid));
NSLog(@"%@", newString);
The result is "NSNUUID" for each value.
A:
I can't see any errors in your code. I get "NSNUUID" as output when I execute your sample code. Try running the same code on the Simulator with iOS 5.0.1 to see if it works there.
Does this help?
I also found a similar question in the Apple Developer Forums:
To check if NSNUUID is a valid UUID, go to the NSUUID Class Reference. This shows you that it is a valid UUID, with the following properties: be359ba680
